Weekly Goals for January 4th -- January 10th

I haven't been consistent about logging in here during my blogging break, but I've done well with my goals nonetheless. Yes!! I don't have anything new with my goals *this* week...I've got some new stuff on the radar in upcoming weeks, though. For now:

1) Continue with planner/praise

2) Continue with 2 - 3 liters of water daily

3) Up breathing exercises to 5 times daily

4) Continue with 1/2 hour of dance and 1/2 hour of cardio daily (or 1 hour cardio no more than 5 times a week, and at least 15 minutes of dance daily)

5) Post daily on progress

How's it going for you? Do you have goals for the week? If you'd like a little more structure and accountability, I encourage you to post your goals and follow up daily as well. Jump in -- the water's fine :)!

  1. Hi Donna!! Glad to have you back to blogging. My goals are pretty much the same. Walk everyday---which is a good workout right now. The high temp for the day is usually 16 to 18 degrees and the snow is almost to my knees. But I'm making the best of it. And I'm tacking food and eating more healthy. I try to use the portion plate and count points. When I was in a weight management class a few years ago we counted points by 100 calories equalling 1 point. Fruits and vegies were free. It's simple, easy, and worked for me before. If it was a healthy food and had 140 calories, we could count it as 1 point. But if it was a candy bar and had 240 calories we had to count it as 3. Encourages you to make good or "better" choices. And I think the idea of free fruit and vegies was that you'd never starve to death!!! You could always have something. And I'm doing a little better with the water, but haven't arrived yet!! Best wishes!!! :)

  2. Hi cbd :)! It's good to be back! I hate cold and snow, but you've got a point -- it does make for effective exercise. I love how you're combining cardio with strength training walking in the knee-deep snow! I'd be at home with an exercise video ;). I'm glad you're doing well with your goals overall. Keep us posted on how it goes! I hear you on the water. Best wishes to you, too. Keep up the good work :)!!

  3. I just completely forgot to post yesterday. Things are going well -- 2 liters of water, dance, cardio, breathing, planner and praise. I'm thinking ahead to how I'll work in exercise in the upcoming weeks, as January is typically a very busy month for me with my online classes, and I'm also teaching 3 - 4 nights a week outside the home. As long as I plan ahead, I think I'll do all right -- but I do need to think it through before the day gets underway. Today's plan: my favorite belly dance workout video, "Slimdown," by Veena and Neena, when I get home from work...so I need to talk with my husband this AM to make sure I've got the TV time I need. I'm also going to work on my new choreos and the fun new steps we learned in class last night, in 15-minute increments. So far, so good!

  4. I'm doing better. I am working harder on getting in my vegies. I know from before if I ate lots of vegies and some protein, I did lots better. Fruit isn't a problem, but the vegies are, sometimes. I, too, find that planning ahead helps so much. Even if I don't commit it to paper, if I at least have a plan in my head, it helps so much. Keeps me from running in the kitchen and mindlessly grabbing something. Hubby asked for apple dumplings, which I made. So I ate my microwaved potato, salad, and green beans. Then I had a small serving for dessert. He, on the other hand, ate only two BIG bowls of apple dumplings!!! At one time I would have followed suit and not cooked for myself. So that's a marked improvement. A dear friend said to me that if I wouldn't eat healthy for myself, would I do it for them because they want me to be healthy. That brought tears of love to my eyes!! Have fun shimmying :) :)

  5. Way to go, cbd! That is a *huge* accomplishment. Thanks for sharing it with us!!I'm thinking a lot lately about topics that relate to your post...I'll keep you updated ;).

Yesterday started out *so well,* then kinda-sorta fell apart. I fell short on both exercise and water...did well with breathing, planner and praise. So, a mixed bag...but on the up side, yesterday was the first day of implementing some new things (learning to delegate, and be less anxious about getting things done, are among my big goals for the year), and it went really well. I learned from what didn't go well, and I'll do it differently next time. Onward!!

  6. I've done well again today. Took my snow walk!! We're supposed to get up to 12 inches more tonight ): I am not a snow bird!!! The cold doesn't bother me, but I don't like the short days, long and dark evenings, and the feeling of being trapped that the snow gives me. But spring is coming. At least we got out to shop today. And the sun was shining for awhile. On the up side---I got some fresh lettuce and chicken breasts. I still fall short on the water---especially if I'm not home. Guess I need to plan for that, too. I keep my food tracker religiously. And I use my journal to deal with "aggravations". It helps. Glad you are "keeping up" on the keeping up!!!!!!!!

  7. I'm glad you're keeping up the keeping up too, cbd :)! Brrrrr! I *hate* cold and snow, so I don't envy you your chilly weather. But I love that you're using it to your advantage, and getting in some strength training in the snow.

You know, cbd, I've been using my journal for dealing with aggravations, too. I've found all that controlled breathing has helped me really zero in on my stressors, and I'm spending more time asking, "Now that I know what "it" is that's bugging me, how can I do "it" differently?" So far, so good!

Yesterday went well -- I've been learning from earlier experiences this week, and got in my exercise, water, breathing, planner and praise. Whew! I still have some scheduling challenges to overcome this month, but I'm getting there...
